Jerry Abramson is Executive-in-Residence at Spalding University. He served in the Obama administration, was former Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, and the longest-serving Mayor of Louisville with 21 years of service. He practiced law with Greenebaum Doll and McDonald, and Frost Brown Todd.  He also served on the Board of Brown-Forman Corporation. His bachelor’s degree is in Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University.  Jerry has taught classes at the University of Louisville’s School of Law, Bellarmine University, and other schools. He received his juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center where he was an editor of the Center’s Law Journal.

Stephen Campbell is an investor, financial consultant, and general partner of The Real Asset Alternative Income Strategy, LP and general partner of the Whiskey Capital Secured Financing Fund I, LP. A specialist in providing strategic and financial advice to financial institutions globally, he has advised on mergers and acquisitions valued at more than $100 billion in transactions. He has advised public insurance companies as well as state insurance regulators and policyholders. Campbell’s career has included positions at Lazard Freres & Co., Dresdner Kleinwort, and Wasserstein Perella & Co. He is a trustee of Berea College and chairman of the James Graham Brown Foundation. Mr. Campbell holds a BA with honors from Amherst College.

Linda Clemons has been a CPA for over 35 years with experience in both public and private accounting.  She graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting.  Linda passed the CPA exam on her first attempt.  She held the positions of Accounting Manager and Controller with previous companies.  She joined Hardscuffle/American Life in 2001 and currently holds the position of Assistant Treasurer.

Drew Fellon is President and CEO of Alliance Advisory Services based in Louisville, Kentucky. A successful entrepreneur, over his 35 year career he created, grew, and sold two energy services businesses (i.e., Fellon-McCord and Alliance Energy Services) having a combined revenue of $3.5B. His current company, Alliance Advisory Services, provides executive energy and sustainability consulting services to global organizations. A native of Pennsylvania, he attended Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial & Management Systems Engineering.

Jerry Gerichs has more than 40 years of experience in accounting and finance, including 10 years of public accounting experience with Coopers & Lybrand.  He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1980.  He passed both his CPA and CMA exams on his first attempt. After moving around during his professional career, with roles including Chief Financial Officer at Meridian Financial Corporation, and positions at ICH Corporation, and Carpenter, Stothman & Bolin CPA Firm (now Mountjoy, Chilton & Medley) he considers Louisville home. Jerry’s been with Hardscuffle/American Life since 1999, progressing from Assistant Treasurer to Treasurer and now President and CEO.

A lawyer who specializes in business and environmental law, Bob is Secretary and General Counsel of Hardscuffle, Inc. and of American Life and Accident and serves on the boards of Hardscuffle Warranty Investment Company, Hornbeam Insurance Company and Sterling G. Thompson Company. He is an honors graduate of Centre College, and was awarded an MA from the University of Pennsylvania in English Literature, and a JD from the University of Kentucky, where he was editor-in-chief of the Kentucky Law Journal. He is a former member of Stites & Harbison’s Louisville office where he became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America®; in Chambers USA’s “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business”; and in the Kentucky and Corporate Counsel Editions of Super Lawyers.

Dr. Nat Irvin is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Media Arts. An accomplished composer, he also holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Music Composition from the University of North Texas and is a graduate of the Institute for Educational Management, Harvard University Graduate School of Education.  He serves as Assistant Dean of Thought Leadership and Civic Engagement, and holds The Woodrow M. Strickler Chair, Professor of Management Practice at the University of Louisville, College of Business. He teaches graduate courses in the future of management, leadership, and team dynamics.

Nick brings more than 20 years of practical, hands-on expertise to his role as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Hardscuffle, Inc., American Life & Accident, and Hornbeam. After graduating from Miami University in 1998 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance, Nick started his career in public accounting at Deloitte where he spent 13 years, rising to the level of Senior Manager while primarily serving insurance clients. After Deloitte he joined Luxottica as the Senior Director of Accounting and subsequently became the Senior Director and Controller of EyeMed Vision Care, Luxottica’s vision insurance group.  Nick joined Hardscuffle in 2016.

Mr. Lampton, a former insurance executive and grandson of American Life and Accident founder, Dinwiddie Lampton Sr., holds both Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), professional designations. He also holds a Real Estate “Sales Associates” license in Kentucky and a Surplus Lines Insurance license in Kentucky.  He is a designated Lloyd’s of London correspondent registered in Kentucky. Lampton operates and manages Brownsboro Farm, a horse farm in Oldham County, Kentucky. His commitment to the well-being of horses led him to donate property to Second Stride, a Kentucky charity that rehabilitates former racehorses. Mr. Lampton earned his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Lampton is the co-owner and CEO of Standard Concrete Products, Inc., based in Columbus, Georgia.  Standard is the largest manufacturer of pre-stressed concrete products for bridges and ports in the Southeastern United States, and an innovator in Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) products for applications in transportation infrastructure. Mr. Lampton is a past chairman of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. His fifteen years’ experience as CEO of a privately-held manufacturing business and more than twenty years on the board of Hardscuffle and American Life has enhanced his perspective on value and long-term growth. He holds an MBA in Finance and Statistical Forecasting from Tulane University and a BA in English Literature from Duke University. He is chair of the Steeplechase at Callaway, which has raised more than $4m for the arts. He is a great-grandson, of American Life and Accident founder, Dinwiddie Lampton, and a father of five children.

Nana Lampton, insurance executive and civic leader, is a life-long resident of Louisville, Kentucky. She earned a BA from Wellesley College and an MA from the University of Virginia. She started her career in 1966 at the American Life and Accident Insurance Company of Kentucky, which her grandfather founded in 1906. While continuing to work at American Life, which evolved from a retail insurance company to re-insurance, she served on the boards of two NYSE companies. Her interests include downtown development, land conservation, and the arts. She is a Trustee at Berea College and a Director of the Commonwealth Fund for KET. She has served on national corporate boards and more than thirty non-profit boards.

Former Lieutenant Governor and State Auditor Crit Luallen has served with seven Kentucky Governors and been elected twice to statewide office. During her long career in state government, she served in a variety of positions with responsibility for financial management and oversight.  In 2020, she was appointed by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to head the State Budget Transition Team. She is engaged in numerous civic, education, and business related activities including as a member of the Board of Trustees of Centre College; Vice Chair of the Board of the James Graham Brown Foundation; and member of the Board of Community Trust Bancorp, a Pikeville, Kentucky based bank holding company with $5 billion in assets.

Lois Mateus is a retired senior executive of Brown-Forman, where for twenty-six years she oversaw the company’s public relations, corporate communications, stockholder services, community relations, and contributions activities, while also managing real estate and office facilities worldwide and developing brand home places. She was one of three major shareholders in the development of Woodford Reserve bourbon and creation of the brand’s distillery and visitor’s center in Woodford County, and for eight years served on the company’s executive committee. She also served as a Director on the Boards of Lenox and Hartmann. Representing Brown-Forman, she became the first woman to serve on the board of the Kentucky Distillers Association.  In 2013, KDA created the annual Lois Mateus Mentoring Award in her honor.

Jean has been involved in financial services for over 40 years. Jean started her career with PNC Bank (formerly Citizens Fidelity) in Louisville, Kentucky where she held various roles, including Financial Analyst and Assistant Vice President of Information Services. Her experience as a CPA includes several years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and Dean Dorton (formerly Cotton + Allen) where she specialized in tax compliance and research. She returned to banking as a Vice President with PNC Bank (formerly National City) as a financial planner for high-net-worth individuals. Jean holds a BS in Accounting with high distinction from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Bellarmine University. Jean joined Hardscuffle in 2008.
